Photo Friday, Random Farm Moments

Good morning! Here is a quick crop update, a rainy day kid activity and a beautiful sunrise to start your Friday!
The cabbage for seed is coming along nicely. Especially considering how wet this winter has been as we head into spring.   Hoping to get some fertilizer on today, even through a few spots that look like the photo above…wish us luck!

So what do we do with a busy kid like Hoot when it’s raining. Well we jump in a lot of puddles and play in a lot of mud, or…we jump in a tractor and take a ride!

Which leads us to today, a beautiful start to a day of sunshine and lots of work ahead. Good morning and happy Friday folks!

New Cousin Oliver & Pumpkin Patch

We have had some exciting news in our family!! My brother and sister in law had their first little baby! Welcome to the party little Oliver (Ollie as Hoot calls him) Lester Kirsch!!   He decided to come a few weeks early on October 5th. Weighing in at a whopping 7 lbs 5oz and stretching to a full 21 inches! He’s doing great and his new mom and dad are awesome too!

In other news…I haven’t had a lot of time lately to sit down and write all the posts rolling around in my head. So just to tide all you faithful followers over I thought I’d post a double post…new cousin and few photos of our fun pumpkin patch trip yesterday to EZ Orchards

It was Hoot’s first time with this whole pumpkin experience and while the most exciting thing to him was the slide and the wagon I think he’s sort of getting that fall spirit.

If you get a chance to head over to EZ Orchards I would highly recommend it! They had live bluegrass music, great food, face painting, petting zoo…basically something for literally kids of all ages!

I’ll be trying to find time to get some of the words in my head down onto paper or into a blog post soon! Until then hope you enjoyed some new baby Oliver & Hoot photos!! Happy Monday!

Life on “Just a Crop Farm”

Many people ask me what kind of animals do you have on your farm? And I always answer back with a less excited response of,”Oh, we just have a crop farm.”

But I can assure you that even though dogs are the only animals on our farm, we have plenty of things to keep us all entertained. For instance Hoot has learned how to give 4wheeler rides to his cousins!

He is patiently still riding with dad on the tractor until he can reach the pedals himself!

And finally when things get really boring, he just rides Yukon around.

So in the end, a farm life on “just a crop” farm may not be so bad after all!
