Photo Friday…on Monday

Sorry I never realized that my post on Friday never actually was sent out….so here is this (or last) week’s photo Friday.

One of the biggest reasons we plant spring wheat is because usually it will grow faster than the slugs will eat it this time of year.  So here are a few photos to show you just how fast this stuff that we just planted has been growing like crazy!  This wheat was planted on the 13th of March.

Sunny Weekend Before the Rain

We worked hard all weekend and finally at the end of Sunday evening we headed off the farm and took our ’31 Model A hot rod out for a ride.

Here’s a photo of the car before the parade last year…

After a long weekend of spraying, planting and ground work it was sure nice to enjoy a bit of that sunshine and sunset.20140324-085054.jpg

Here’s a video, it’s not amazing but it’s kind of cool. It’s taken heading down Mahony Road just before you get to our farm.

So now we start again this morning. Everyone going ten different directions, they are still calling for rain tomorrow!

Spring Ground Work

Nope it isn’t snowing here, that’s lime! We put it on our fields to help keep our pH levels up and our soil healthy.

This field will be planted to peas tomorrow so we have a bit of work ahead of us to get it ready.

We have worked it a few more times and are now ready to out on some pre-plant fertilizer. That cloud of dust is our spreader.
