Crop Farm TourĀ

Here in Oregon, we grow over 250 different crops. So it’s no wonder that in our soil this year we have 10 different crops growing.  And while in the next three months they will all get harvested, currently everything is at all different stages. Some crops are just getting planted, some starting to flower, some are pollinating, and others are already ready to be harvested!

So here is your photo tour of our farm and the 10 crops we are raising.

First stop the grasses, both perennial and tall fescue are grown on our farm.

Next, vegetables seeds. We are raising red cabbage seed…

Swiss chard seed…

And radish seed.

Then finally, all the crops you can eat!!! Wheat…

Peas…

Hazelnuts…

Squash…

And Green beans…

So there you have it! And yes, to answer the question I most often get asked, we are really busy!  And most of the time, we are loving it!

Crap on the Farm, Literally!

I love that I get to farm outside many days out of the year! The feeling of pulling into a field to fertilize an open station tractor, on a nice sunny day, it just never gets old. But then there’s the day when you pull into the field and you feel a bit of a sprinkle.

So you look up only to realize that that nice refreshing sprinkle on a hot sunny day is coming from a big gun, that’s shooting green!! For you city folks, that means it’s shooting manure.

Yes I got the field done, because sometimes life on a farm isn’t all sunny days, sometimes it comes with a lot of crap! Happy Friday everyone hope your’s isn’t too “crappy” (sorry couldn’t resist!)

Lucky to be a Farmer & a Mom

I’m feeling pretty lucky today. I took a few photos while I was out fertilizing our wheat.

I quickly realized how lucky I am to have this be my view many days of the year!

And I also scrolled on this photo taken on Mother’s Day, another reason I’m feeling lucky today!
